Laura has over 13 years of experience working with victims of abuse and violence.


She is our Forensic Program Coordinator, Forensic Interviewer, and Trainer at First Witness Child Advocacy Center. Laura conducts forensic interviews, peer review, and on-going trainings. In this role, she monitors forensic interviews and track cases of alleged child abuse through the criminal justice and social service systems.  She is a Gundersen National Child Protection Training Center ChildFirst First Witness Faculty Trainer and member of the forensic interview training team, training professionals in interviewing of children.  She has presented and trained on issues related to child abuse dynamics, ChildFirst forensic interview protocol, interviewing vulnerable adults, multidisciplinary team development, first responder training, domestic violence, and narrative practice.



Laura’s goal to ensure the best community response to child abuse and maltreatment victims and their non-offending caregivers.



She is a member of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC) and abides by the Multidisciplinary Team and Child Advocacy Center model best practice as set by the National Children’s Alliance accreditation standards.



Laura received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a cultural studies concentration from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. She is also a Co-Facilitator at Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs (DAIP) in Duluth, MN for men who batter in Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter's weekly groups. She's participated as a Domestic Violence Advocate in a Restorative Justice Domestic Abuse Transition Circle with Men As Peacemakers.
