Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This presentation will review the process for investigating child maltreatment in the state of Minnesota.  We will cover general information about the Maltreatment of Minors Act including how maltreatment is reported and how jurisdiction for maltreatment investigations is broken up between the counties and the state.  Additionally, we will discuss how investigations are conducted, what information authorities have access to, how lead agencies (including law enforcement) work together, and possible outcomes of a maltreatment case. This information will be presented from the perspective of the Department of Human Services. While investigations are likely similar between the county and the state, there may be procedural variations.

Learning Objectives:

1.      Review of the Maltreatment of Minors Act: what is required to be reported and jurisdiction for investigations

2.      Basics of how a maltreatment investigation is conducted

3.      Possible outcomes of an investigation
